The Chalet Counselling Service

Welcome to
The Chalet Counselling Service.
Based in Portstewart, on the North Coast of Northern Ireland
Face-to-face and online counselling are available
When we are experiencing difficulties, feeling anxious, sad or depressed, or our circumstances seem overwhelming, it can be helpful to have someone to talk to who is caring and supportive but who is outside the situation. As a Counsellor I am committed to helping you understand and process your current circumstances, your feelings and reactions, and understand yourself, in a deeper way. This may lead to healing from pain and sadness, helping you to be more in control of your emotions and actions, and choosing solutions that work for you. I will work with you to help you seek a new perspective on your circumstances and to equip you with the resources required to live a fulfilling life.
I will listen to you without judgement and respond to you with honesty and respect. I will take the time to develop a good relationship with you, as this has been found to be the most important thing that influences the success of the counselling. I will help you achieve your goals and develop new life strategies to empower you to choose your way forward.
I work with various issues including: anxiety, bereavement, bullying, childhood abuse, depression, domestic abuse, relationship issues, self-harm and suicidal thoughts, spiritual issues, stress and trauma.

"The counselling enabled me to be myself which is open and honest with confidence, knowing that I was not being judged [by Eileen]. I would like to thank Eileen for all her patience in a very difficult time for me."

"The sessions have allowed me to articulate what is bothering me. I have appreciated being able to talk these things through in a calm and non-judgemental way. There has been a fundamental shift in me - I have an understanding that people see me as a doormat and that I don't want that to continue. I am now able to express that I want it to change, I can recognise how I feel and am learning to express that safely. I am becoming quietly and gently assertive. I am more self-aware and observant of dynamics between me and my partner and I have a choice of response now."

“I have been struggling with relationships within my family and given my different ethnic background and belief, I doubted whether I could find a counsellor who would be able to understand and provide a useful insight into my situation. Eileen is very attentive and the counselling I have received from her so far has been practical and empathetic. Although it is a difficult journey, the steady improvements that I experience reassures me that I am heading towards the right direction and I believe this would not have been possible without Eileen’s help.”

“Eileen has been an incredible help and support to me during the two years that I have had counselling sessions with her. I have found her to be very consistent in attitude and perspective, with a clear style of communication with even the most challenging topics. She maintains a highly professional manner, while simultaneously showing an obviously genuine care for me holistically as an individual. I feel listened to and understood in a way that I’ve not experienced with previous counsellors. I have found Eileen able not only to help me express things that I have struggled to gain clarity on, but also offer plenty of novel viewpoints that would not have occurred to me and have not been suggested by others. I honestly can say that she has been invaluable to me in my mental health journey.”
